In brief

Certain information requirements for registering chemicals under REACH have been revised by the European Commission.

ECHA announces upcoming changes to REACH information requirements

On October 14, 2022, the changes will take effect, and companies should begin preparing now. ECHA will publish additional information later this year.

The most significant changes affect:

  • Requirements and specific rules for adaptation of various studies.
  • The obligation for only representatives to provide details on the non-EU manufacturer they represent.
  • Substance identification information

ECHA is currently updating its guiding documents and will publish recommendations on information requirements for registrants in the latter half of 2022.

The changes will also affect IUCLID. It is already possible with the current IUCLID 6 format to report data as required by the amended REACH Annexes. With the next major IUCLID release in April 2023, some adjustments will be made, including changes to the validation assistant. The ECHA completeness check will be aligned with the revised information requirements at the same time.
